You say you’re thinking about using a touchscreen to set it up. Of course that would be nice, but you will have expenses! Is it feasible for you right now?
Is the screen currently configured by a webpage?
What serial are the additional parts?

Click on the “Talking Alarm Clock” link above….it will open a drawing of the new design. I’m basically using the parts you recommended…I have the funds to purchase and start to develop.
